What I Offer

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Registered Art Therapist (ATR), and EMDR Practitioner (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). My office is located in Southeast Portland, Oregon, just off of Division Street on 26th and Clinton Street. I provide Individualized Therapy for Children, Teens, Individuals & Families. Within my practice, I focus on treating trauma, anxiety/depression, acting-out teens, and self-discovery.

Making that first phone call or email for help is tough, but I encourage you to make that first step. My job is to help guide you through this process and make it as easy as possible, so that change can begin. You can contact me by phone or email, or via my online contact form, whichever is easiest for you! Your call and email are confidential. I look forward to speaking with you to answer any questions you may have, and to schedule a time to meet.

About Me

My name is Rachael Patoray, and I am a Native Oregonian.  I was raised in this community, and now live in Boring Oregon with my husband on our little farm.  I am a licensed professional counselor and hold a graduate degree in art therapy/counseling. I have experience working with youth and families, both inpatient and in the community.  I am currently working as a private practice counselor in the Division/Clinton area in Southeast Portland.  As an art therapist, I use creativity and art making as a tool, to enhance the therapeutic work that takes place within the counseling session.

What is Art Therapy?

"Art therapy is the therapeutic use of art making, within a professional relationship, by people who experience illness, trauma, or challenges in living, and by people who seek personal development. Through creating art and reflecting on the art products and processes, people can increase awareness of self and others, cope with symptoms, stress, and traumatic experiences; enhance cognitive abilities; and enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of making art."
- American Art Therapy Association
